It probably goes without saying that the better you brief me, the better, or at least quicker, I will probably serve you. But let's face it, composing music is not like servicing a car. It is at the best a subjective beast and, to use a cliché, there is more than one way to skin this unwilling pussy cat!

So here is a short guide of the sort of things I like to know before I get started.

The Screamingly Obvious Bits

  • What length(s) of jingle will you need?
  • What stations and other media will it be used on?
  • Is this your first outing on radio or TV?
  • Have you got an existing jingle? Or existing commercials?
  • Do you use a strap line for your commercials or printed advertisements?

Okay, that was kind of the easy bit to get you warmed up. Most of the rest will probably come out as we talk, but it may be useful for you to have a think about some of these issues.

The Meat and Bones

  • What is your target audience?
  • Do you feel it would be better to have a male of female lead?
  • Have you any thoughts on musical style?
  • Are there some special ideas you wish to get across in the jingle as opposed to any voice over?
  • Can you think of one thing, name, number or idea, that could be really memorable for the listener?
  • Will you need more than one mix of your jingle?
  • Do you need variations for either more than one product area or target audience?

So, there is a little to get you started. Once we have talked in more detail I will produce you a good quality demo (with me singing - sorry!). Once you are happy with the demo, we will get you to commit to the jingle and record and mix the final versions.

I hope that helps you a little - call me for more details!
