All music written by Dancing Bear remains the copyright of Joss Sanglier. However, we try to make licensing issues as simple as possible. For local radio we do not normally put a time limit on how long you can use the jingle we compose for your company. But we do limit which stations you can use it on and how you can use it outside radio. We feel this is fairer for most local companies that are unlikely to need to use the jingle outside their local area. Where you do wish to use it on other local radio stations we would normally charge you a quite low additional fee to cover a little for ourselves and something for the singers. If you wish to use your jingle on TV we will advise you on how that will work. Our singers need to receive royalties based on TVR's, so you will probably pay on a campaign by campaign basis. We are happy to negotiate buyouts if you feel this will benefit you in the long term, but this will again be on a station by station basis. For national advertisers we will impose a time limited license unless we can negotiate a buy out with the singers. Other uses of music will be negotiated and quoted on a time by time basis. Performing Rights We never give up our performing rights in any territory and register all our works with the Performing Rights Society. COnsequently it is a condition of licensing that you ensure that the correct details are passed onto the broadcasters so that they may make their PRS returns. These details will be the Work title and the Composers name as detailed on the Schedule that makes up part of each licence. Accepting a License We keep our licenses short and to the point where possible and normally include them with your invoice. Acceptance of the invoice is deemed as acceptance of the license - no other action is required. However, except where otherwise agreed, our license does not come into force until the invoice has been paid in full. This means that you are not permitted to use the work until you have paid for it. I hope that makes a few things clear. We will always chat through how you can and cannot use a piece of music when we work with you and are always happy to talk in more detail about licensing. |
