| Refreshing the Old Website |

I am not sure about anyone else, but I sometimes get tired at staring at the same old thing - probably why I avoid mirrors. The Dancing Bear website design is more than a year old, and although I am very proud of it, I am not sure it is doing what I want. For those who have followed the history, I am not into singing and dancing websites built entirely out of flash, but rather like to get the visitor straight into the thick of it; especially important for a site where people are primarily here to listen to what I do. The new design is, however, less radical than may be obvious. The structure of the site remains more or less the same, so the same links still work, and even the front page utilises the same modules, albeit a little reworked. The big change is the template. This new design is more in keeping with some of my other websites and, I hope feeds you the information you need better. Changes include a new front banner where I can advertise my most recent work and the client login has reappeared on the front page, though moved down to the bottom. As before, the showreels can be played on the site or downloaded using the links displayed. I have renamed "news" to "blog" mostly because that is what people look for now - personally, I have never seen the problem with Company News! Sometimes changes in branding ideas are just that - changes. They offer nothing new. Looking back, the website has changed significantly. I still have a couple of images of earlier one from 2002 and 2003, though I have not kept the myriad that were between then and now (and I have thankfully lost the even earlier ones!
These days I use the Content Management System called Joomla, which I have also used for several other companies including the game Wurm Online (though I am not responsible for the current template), a Caravan Park in North Wales, a website for a Performing Arts school and one for a talent agent. A new version has just come out that allows far better management, and using that and some other pieces of software in development, I will soon be relaunching Moonrock Radio - a satirical and cutting edge Financial Markets website that I ran in 2000/2001 (before we ran out of money). How things have changed! The same offering that cost us so much money to realise last time, we can now do for more or less nothing! Enjoy the new site, and get me some wonderful briefs for 2011
